What’s Up? Our Latest Watch This Space Podcast
This month, we shifted back to the digital workplace, a space we’ve been watching closely for some time. Our podcast was built around takeaways from two recent conferences that Chris Fine attended, with the driving theme being the convergence of technology and real estate, and some discussion about experiential technology. As usual, JAA subscribers get to hear our takeaways - right now. Otherwise, I’ll be posting it publicly on my website in a couple of weeks.
If you haven’t checked our earlier podcasts, you can do that from the podcast archive on my website. This archive will keep updating as the latest podcast is added, so now from one place, you can access all the most recent podcasts.
Recent podcasts have also featured AI-driven transcripts that complement the audio replay link. This feature comes courtesy of Otter.ai, and I hope you like it. As you’ll see, it transcribes in real time, so you can follow along reading while listening to our dialog.

What’s Up? Part 2 – More Highlights and Insights from October
I attended four events in October – and had travel conflicts for two others - so it was a busy and travel-heavy month. Lots of learning from these conferences - RingCentral, Talkdesk, Zoom and Vonage – and the best way to take that in would be via my blog, especially the Writing Roundup post (also cited herein). More is coming this month as well.

Here’s my Writing Roundup post for October – it’s a monthly digest of my thought leadership across various channels, including Toolbox.com, Tech Target, No Jitter and BC Strategies.
I had four media citings for October, and with year-end/2020 outlook reviews coming soon, the next two months should be busy on this front
Here are the social media highlights for last month. Since these stats change every day, the metrics are just a basic snapshot, but they provide a good sense of reach beyond my blog and newsletter. For my business, I use Twitter and LinkedIn, and here are some approximate tallies for October:
For Twitter there were 46,300 impressions, which is up a fair bit from September. Also had 318 profile visits, 81 mentions, and 44 tweets – all of which are also up nicely from last month.
My “top tweet” was from the RingCentral analyst event, had 4,689 impressions and 80 engagements
During the month, 8 of my tweets had 1,000+ impressions, of which 3 were 2,000+
For LinkedIn – I shared 43 posts, and overall, they registered 41,965 views, which is over double the volume of views from last month – yes, I was busy!
My top LinkedIn post registered 5,719 views, and 11 posts had 1,000+ views
If you haven’t seen it, there’s a new tab on my website – My Music. This has been in the works for a while, and showcases my fun side, mainly from playing keyboards and guitar with the SIPtones. I’ve posted a few video clips and photos from recent performances – and I have others if you want to see more.

At the SCTC conference in Chicago, I’ll be doing another lock note talk to close out the event
Am doing an industry perspective talk for a Canadian client at a retreat for management and key customers
I have several client engagements underway, including two white papers, case studies, guest blog posts, executive Q&As and an infographic
Conference-wise, things get busy again in the Fall. As always, details for each will be on my blog, along with the Event Calendar listing on my website. Others are being firmed up now, so this listing will be updated next month to reflect that.
Hey Did You Know?
This section took a break last month, but I’ve got something fun to share.
So, did you know??… creativity takes many forms, and aside from playing music – among other things – I like drawing and am an avid fan of visual art. Here’s a taste of that from the recent Vonage event in San Francisco.
They had a visual artist on hand during a reception – Jeremy Sutton – and we became fast friends. He was there to produce a digital “painting” of the proceedings – at Trou Normand – and he was kind enough to let me sketch a bit as part of his effort. Very Impressionist, very cool, very boho, very fun, and very San Francisco. Here’s a photo of us, along with the finished work, and you don’t have to look hard to see me in there!
