Archive of my UC Expert Views articles on the UCStrategies portal.
Archive of my thought leadership and research focused on Unified Communications for ADTRAN's think.share.lead portal.
Archive of my monthly column written for the print edition TMC's Internet Telephony magazine, which began running in May 2012. Columns are posted later in the month, and can be viewed here on my profile page.
Ziff Davis recently re-launched VoIP News, and I contribute regular content, mostly in the form of articles. They haven't created profile or archive pages for contributors yet, so until then, you'll just have to keep checking the site for new content. You can also sign up for email alerts, but this only covers their research, which I also contribute to, but these aren't published as frequently.

This is my first time participating in the UC Summit, run by UCStrategies. It's an invitation-only event with a heavy focus on helping channels bring UC to market. The content and speakers are first-rate, and I'll be speaking on one of the panels on Tuesday. Hope to see you there!

This is their Meet the Analysts event, which I'll be moderating. Joining me will be my former Frost & Sullivan workmate, Ronald Gruia, and Mike Abramsky from RBC Equity Research. I've been invited by KOTRA to attend this event, and it should be a great opportunity to meet up and coming companies from Korea. There are a number of companies I'm looking forward to meeting from areas such as telephony, wireless, video, IPTV, robotics and home automation.

I've attended this event before as an analyst, and this year will be particularly interesting since Avaya has now been privatized, and Charlie Giancarlo is at the helm. A lot sure can change in the course of a year!

I'm co-Chairing the Unified Communications track, and we've got sessions running all three days. I'll be the lead presenter for one of the tutorials, and am moderating at least one session.
Tutorial: What Does Unified Communications Really Mean?, Monday, 1-4 pm
We're still finalizing some of speakers, but on the whole, the program is very strong. You view the full conference agenda here.
This is widely being touted as the must-do event in 2008 for the latest and greatest in disruptive communications technologies. You won't find a better speaker roster anywhere, and I'm sure the event will be as advertised, if not better.
I'll be moderating one of the sessions...
Mobile Voice Mashups, Thursday, 2:00 pm
To get some background on the event, and the views of Lee Dryburgh, who's putting this together, you'll enjoy my Q&A interview with him that I did for IP Convergence TV.
Finally, to help make up your mind about attending, I can offer you a 15% discount on your registration. To get this, just drop me a line, and I'll send the code to you right away.

I'll be participating in this event in two different ways. As I usually do, I'll be moderating a few sessions - see below. In addition, the Government of Ontario is sponsoring a pavilion to showcase Ontario IT/IP companies at the expo. I've been invited by the Canadian Consulate and the Ministry of Economic Development & Trade to open their Canada/Ontario Business Partnering Reception on the second day of the show - Thursday, 4pm at their pavilion on the show floor. Maybe I'll see you there, and all exhibitors are invited.
Here are the sessions I'll be moderating...

Jon Arnold is Principal of J Arnold & Associates, an independent analyst and marketing consultancy with a focus on improving mind share and market share with thought leadership, market research and go-to-market planning. Core expertise is IP-based communications and disruptive technologies, such as VoIP, mobile broadband, telepresence, unified communications, collaboration, contact centers, session border controllers, social media and Web-based applications.
JAA also works with companies for funding, M&A, strategic partnerships, and monetizing patents and intellectual property. The consultancy was launched in March 2005, and from its base in Toronto, Ontario, serves clients across North America as well as in Europe.
Jon has been consulting about these technologies since 2001, and aside from his Analyst 2.0 Blog, provides regular commentary/analysis on Twitter and Linked in. He also contributes to other publishers and portals, such as UCStrategies, ADTRAN, Exony and Focus.com. On a broader level, Jon speaks regularly at industry events, is frequently cited in the press, on radio and television, and accepts public speaking invitations.
Previously, Jon was the VoIP Program Leader for four years at industry analyst firm Frost & Sullivan. While there, he was responsible for managing their subscription service for Global VoIP Equipment Markets, and through his active participation in the industry, created a strong presence for the firm and an unprecedented profile in the media.
Prior to Frost & Sullivan, Jon founded Research Solutions, an independent marketing research consultancy that operated for 15 years. During that time, Research Solutions conducted both qualitative and quantitative research projects for clients across a wide range of industries, including telecommunications, software, electronics, financial services, diagnostic equipment, transportation, energy, management training, trade publishing and professional associations.
Expanding beyond conventional telecom, in July 2009, Jon formed Intelligent Communications Partners which focuses on strategic consulting in the smart grid sector. He has since partnered with TMC to produce the Smart Grid Summit, and provides thought leadership for the Smart Grid Portal. These ventures - and others - serve to create a forum and build a new community around the intersection of energy, utilities, smart homes, telecom and IT. In May 2012, Jon was named to the Smart Grid Advisory Board of Zpryme Research.
In terms of accolades, in May 2009, Focus.com included Jon's widely-read Analyst 2.0 Blog on their Top 15 VoIP Blogs of 2009 list, along with their 2007 Top 25 VoIP Blogs list. In May 2008, Jon's blog was rated #1 among all Telecom blogs by Blogged.com, and VoIP Now included his blog in their Top 100 Telecom blogs.
Shortly after, in July 2008, Guy Kawasaki's Alltop portal included Jon's blog in their group of top VoIP blogs, and subsequently, Jon has been added to the Editorial Advisory Board of Business Trends Quarterly, and the Advisory Board for the eComm 2009 conference. He also serves as an Advisor to several emerging telecom/tech companies.
Some of my readers know that I wear a second hat in the smart grid arena, and have been active there for a few years. Aside from co-producing the successful Smart Grid Summit with TMC for two years and driving thought leadership for their Smart Grid Portal (which peaked at over 2 million monthly page views), I have been closely aligned with Austin-based Zpryme Research.
On May 14, Zpryme announced their Smart Grid Advisory Board, and I'm very pleased to be included in that group. Five others are on the board, including Andres Carvallo and Christine Hertzog, both of whom I've enjoyed working with in this space. Zpryme has a great niche and I anticipate getting busier with them as the year goes on and gas prices remain high!

I've had a good history with ADTRAN, and with the recent launch of their thought leadership blog portal, think.share.lead, they've engaged me to be a regular contributor, focused on Unified Communications. It's a great opportunity to provide ongoing posting about a space I follow closely, and an area that really needs to be better understood. I'll be posting 1-2 times a week, and I hope you follow me there - and if you like it, you can spread the word on Facebook, Twitter and other places - it's all there on the portal.
I recently started a thought leadership engagement with U.K.-based Exony. They provide high end data analytics to help hosted contact centers better manage what's going on in the field. Better data means better decisions, and to help enterprises better understand this space, I'll be writing a bi-monthly column of exclusive content that will be featured on their website. The broad focus is on hosted contact centers, and each time around, I'll be exploring something new. It's a fascinating area, and I'm learning more with every posting. You can follow the posts here, and if there's a hot topic you'd like me to examine, please drop me a note.
I have been affiliated with Focus for some time, and we are now working more closely together. If you don't know them, Focus runs a family of widely-followed portals, a few of which fall into my everyday sphere.
As of today, I have been added to their roster of Focus Experts, and you'll be hearing from me regularly, particularly about VoIP, SMB communications and marketing strategies. Their portal is well worth exploring, and it's hard to visit and not find a topic you want to jump in on and add your thoughts. I hope to see you there soon, and if I can't answer your question, I'm sure someone there can.

I've been maintaining an IP communications blog since March 2005, and like all blogs, it's a work in progress. Please come visit to see what's on my mind each day, and find out which blogs I like to read.
Blogs are highly personal, so you can also read my occasional missives on my other passions, like the Red Sox, the Blues, and cinema and popular culture. For convenience, you can subscribe to any of my feeds with a simple mouse click and get them hand-delivered, so to speak.
