Where's Jon Arnold?
Upcoming conferences and industry events you can find Jon at:

Shoretel 201 Partner/Analyst Conference, July 20-22, 2010, San Diego, CA

Cisco C-Scape, June 28-30, 2010, Las Vegas, NV

I'll be pretty busy at this event, moderating two sessions and serving as the overall Conference Chair.

UPDATE - the Metaswitch Forum has been postponed due to the heavy flooding in Nashville. This isn't good news for anyone, and I hope things get back to normal down there ASAP. I'll update this listing when the event is re-scheduled.
NEW UPDATE - the Forum has now been rescheduled for September - details coming soon.
Not the usual spot for a telephony event, but it's a great location for a lot of their customers, and my inner blues and BBQ spirits couldn't be happier. Metaswitch always puts on a great customer event, and I'm very much looking forward to coming again this year.

TMC ITExpo East 2010 and Ontario/Canada Business Networking Breakfast, January 20-22, 2010, Miami Beach, FL
The winter edition of TMC's ITExpo - in its 10th year, by the way - is about a month away, and it's time to start thinking about Miami. Normally, I'm moderating sessions and speaking, but this time my focus is primarily on the Smart Grid Summit, which I'll get to in a moment below.
One thing I am doing at the ITExpo is host a networking breakfast jointly sponsored by the Governments of Ontario and Canada. They've been doing this the past few years at the Expo, with the idea being to showcase Ontario-based startups in the communications space. So far, they have six companies lined up, and the breakfast is being held as a friendly forum to meet with them away from the din of the show floor. The companies confirmed to date are:
- PIKA Technologies
- Comwave Telecom
- SVK Software
- Hostopia
- Phybridge
- InGenius
The breakfast takes place Friday, January 22, and requires an RSVP. If you want to meet these companies and see more about what's coming out of Canada, please drop me a line and I'll send you the invitation.

This is where I'll be spending most of my time at ITExpo, as I'm Co-Chairing this event along with my ICP Partner, Shidan Gouran. The program is filling out nicely, and you can review the Agenda and Keynotes here. If you haven't made plans to attend, you can register here.
We'll be updating the event site regularly, and you can follow our news in more detail at the Smart Grid portal. Even better, you can subscribe to our E-Newsletter, and get the latest Smart Grid news and exclusive thought leadership right to your inbox.

Am looking forward to the latest iteration of BroadSoft's customer event. I'll be there in analyst mode, and will post my thoughts on what I'm seeing as time allows.
Supercomm 2009, October 21-23, 2009, Chicago, IL
I'm just going for part of the conference, and am moderating a session on Telepresence. Hope you can make it, and otherwise, I'll be walking about and taking meetings all day Thursday.
The Telepresence Revolution, Wednesday, 4:05pm (if this link doesn't not get you to the session, please search for session #1359 on the Supercomm website)

I'm attending strictly as an invited industry analyst, so I'll be there taking lots of notes and getting to know the ININ folks better. On the fun side, they're having a Battle of the Bands, and I'm in the process of finding some common ground with other attendees to play a few tunes together. No CD is forthcoming - we'll just be happy pulling off a couple of songs, but you never know where these things will go...

This is the "new" VON, and I'm quite keen to see what's there. I'll be attending from Monday through Wednesday, and am moderating a session on enterprise mobile applications on Wednesday. Hope you can join us!

This has become a perennial event for me, and is still the best event that brings buyers, sellers and thought leaders together in the IP telephony space. Of course, the IT Expo is a lot more than telephony, and anyone providing communications technologies to the business market really should be there. For a bit of a sneak peak, here's a Q&A I did about the Expo with Mr. T himself, Rich Tehrani.
I have a number of things in the works for the Expo, and will update this notice as things unfold. For now, I can tell you that I'll be moderating two sessions, both of which are topics I follow with great interest:
UPDATE - July 30...
The IT Expo will be a busy event for me on several fronts, and here's the latest addition:
This week we announced the launch of two initiatives with TMC - the Smart Grid Summit ad the Smart Grid Portal. You can read more about the details in the press release.
The Smart Grid portal is our online home, not just for the Summit, but our ongoing focus on this space.
The Smart Grid Summit will be a one day event - September 1 - and the conference website just launched. Details are sparse at this point, but you can register any time. We'll have lots more detail, along with a full program in the next couple of days - at which point, I'll update this listing.

Mitel Analyst Summit 09, June 17-19, 2009, Las Vegas, NV
I've been attending this event for a few years now, and it's one of the best customer forums going. MetaSwitch has quietly built up a solid customer base, and this event really showcases their technology and the quality of the relationships they have with their customers. On Thursday, I'll be moderating a panel on the challenges of serving the consumer VoIP market - really looking forward to that.
I'm fortunate to be one of a handful of analysts attending, so it gives me a pretty unique perspective on the market they're serving. Here's a taste of what last year's Forum was like in New Orleans. That's going to be a pretty hard act to follow, but Las Vegas is as good a stage as any to try.
eComm 2009, March 3-5, 2009, San Francisco, CA
Emerging Communications 2009 is THE place to be for where telecom is going. Building on last year's inaugural eComm, this event is all about disruption and innovation, and you won't find a better lineup of speakers and topics anywhere. If you pick one event to attend in 2009 - whether you're a follower or a leader - you need to be here.
On Wednesday, I'll be moderating a panel on Voice 2.0:
You can read more about what to expect on the eComm blog, and I've been posting updates regularly on my blog. I can also help you get there in the form of a 20% discount off your ticket, provided you register by February 17. Just drop me a line, and I'll pass along the discount code. Hope to see you there!

Can't think of a better place to be in February when you live in Canada. I'll be moderating two sessions, and am involved with two other events during the show. First, the panel sessions:

- 2009 Technology Survival Roadmap - SIP Trunking and Beyond, Monday at 4:00pm
- Just for Carriers: SIP Trunk Intensive Workshop, Wednesday at 8:50am

Finally, on Tuesday morning, I'll be hosting a business breakfast sponsored by the Canada/Ontario delegation that is showcasing Ontario tech companies at the IT Expo. Attendees will get to meet representatives from the following companies: SVKSoftware, Pronexus, Industry Dynamics, Macadamian, Ingenius, OmniWare, ObjectWorld, Jazinga, Phybridge, Callture, Vision Max and Sigma Systems.
Attendance is limited and is on an RSVP basis. The breakfast is primarily targeted at South Florida companies looking to do business with Ontario tech companies, especially those in the delegation. For more information, drop me a line, and I can send you an invitation.
Cisco C-Scape 2008, December 8 - 10, 2008, San Jose, CA

Tekelec 2008 Industry Analyst Day, November 18, 2008, Morrisville, NC

I've been invited by KOTRA to attend this event, and it should be a great opportunity to meet up and coming companies from Korea. There are a number of companies I'm looking forward to meeting from areas such as telephony, wireless, video, IPTV, robotics and home automation.

I've attended this event before as an analyst, and this year will be particularly interesting since Avaya has now been privatized, and Charlie Giancarlo is at the helm. A lot sure can change in the course of a year!

Toronto Tech Week, September 22-26, 2008, Toronto, ON
I'll be moderating the Mobile Marketing 2.0 session, which includes speakers from Yahoo!, Silverback Wireless and Canoe.ca. It's part of the Future Forward: Internet 2010/New Media track running all day Thursday.
At the end of the day, there's also the big TTW party at the Revival Bar, which is a very fun venue. Maybe I'll see you there!

This show is a ways off, and for now, I'll be moderating a session on SMB VoIP. I'll update this listing as my participation in the show evolves.

Dialogic Analyst Update Event, April 15-16, 2008, New York, NY

IT360 Conference, April 7-9, 2008, Toronto, Ontario
I'm co-Chairing the Unified Communications track, and we've got sessions running all three days. I'll be the lead presenter for one of the tutorials, and am moderating at least one session.
We're still finalizing some of speakers, but on the whole, the program is very strong. You view the full conference agenda here.

eComm2008, March 12-14, 2008, Mountain View, California
This is widely being touted as the must-do event in 2008 for the latest and greatest in disruptive communications technologies. You won't find a better speaker roster anywhere, and I'm sure the event will be as advertised, if not better.
I'll be moderating one of the sessions...
To get some background on the event, and the views of Lee Dryburgh, who's putting this together, you'll enjoy my Q&A interview with him that I did for IP Convergence TV.
Finally, to help make up your mind about attending, I can offer you a 15% discount on your registration. To get this, just drop me a line, and I'll send the code to you right away.

IT Expo East 2008, January 22-25, 2008, Miami, Florida
I'll be participating in this event in two different ways. As I usually do, I'll be moderating a few sessions - see below. In addition, the Government of Ontario is sponsoring a pavilion to showcase Ontario IT/IP companies at the expo. I've been invited by the Canadian Consulate and the Ministry of Economic Development & Trade to open their Canada/Ontario Business Partnering Reception on the second day of the show - Thursday, 4pm at their pavilion on the show floor. Maybe I'll see you there, and all exhibitors are invited.
Here are the sessions I'll be moderating...

Test the Nation, CBC Television, January 20, 2008, Toronto, Ontario
This one is a bit different, but it sure will be fun. I'm going to be on national TV, as part of the Blogger Team on this quiz show. If you're in Canada, mark the date, and I hope you tune in.
